Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) is a hot topic in many industries across the world, but how many companies are walking the talk?

In the short video above, which Campaign produced in partnership with Publicis Groupe during Women Leading Change 2019, we interviewed four company leaders to gain a better understanding of what D&I means, and how they are moving the diversity needle forward in their respective industries.

All four interviewees agree that diversity isn’t simply about ticking off checkboxes; rather, it is, as Sindhuja Rai , director, media & digital, AMEA, Mondelez International notes, about “bringing in many different perspectives into the room, whether it is cultural, racial or gender.”

Lynn Huang, Honeywell's head of marketing, APAC, shares a similar sentiment. “when you walk into a meeting room, are you aware of the different opinions, the different viewpoints?”

When it comes to implementing D&I in the workplace, MSIG Asia has some impressive stats. 40% of MSIG Asia's senior leadership roles are filled by women, as Iris Yuet, executive officer, corporate services, MSIG Asia, says. She also takes pride in the company global secondment programme.

Sometimes the best way to ensure diversity is to call out stereotypesespecially perhaps, if you're a journalist. “The advertising around us plays a really big role in influencing how we feel as people...I have developed a body of work that represents…viewpoint about how important equality is…and that also calls out the work that is too restrictive,” says Matthew Miller, Campaign Asia’s managing editor.
